Most software architects treat hardware as an abstraction. I don't. Having started at the physical layer—climbing towers, maintaining microwave links—I understand the real-world constraints: power budgets, unreliable networks, thermal limits. When I architect an IoT system, I design from the device up, not the cloud down. This means fewer surprises in production and systems that actually work at the edge.
